Do you love Fort Collins? Do you love the people at Fort Collins Community Church? We need your help!

As most of you know, our desire as a church is to operate in a financially responsible and sustainable way. This means that the decisions we make as a church in regards to how we minister and our ability to do our ministry is largely dependent on having all of our funding in place for our yearly budget. The goal is to make responsible financial decisions that our budget can support so that we can be around for years to come.

Our desire is to be debt free, and in order to operate in the way that we feel God has led us to minister, we need financial support. We need people like you to partner with us!

We have set up an online giving program through iheartfortcollins.com that makes it easier than ever for you to donate directly to Fort Collins Community Church. What we are asking is that you prayerfully consider committing to donate to us for a four month period of time.

How does it work? Simply go to iheartfortcollins.com and you will find a big red DONATE button. You may choose to donate $25, $50 or $100 that will be withdrawn automatically on a monthly basis for four months, or choose to make a one time donation in an amount that you may choose yourself. It's that simple and it's completely secure through PayPal.

The Freemans at the Farm

We took Hannah to The Farm at Lee Martinez Park on Saturday and had a blast. This place is super hands on and interactive, so Hannah got to feed the chickens and goats, moo in the face of the cows and even take a quick pony ride. We had such a fun day!

Hannah went to play at Josiah's house today. They played for a couple of hours in the sprinkler and on the swing set. No matter how much we ask them not to, they just keep growing up!

So Long Woody's

One of our favorite pizza joints, Woody's, is closing its doors for good next week. Located directly across the street from CSU, student housing will replace this long-time Fort Collins hot spot. Here's a picture of our family outside the restaurant in what will likely be our last time there. Peace out Woody's! We'll miss your California Dream pizza!

I Love Technology

But it’s really more of a love/hate relationship. My iPhone. My laptop. My TV. It all keeps me so connected and in the know. I’m more efficient and more task-oriented than ever. I can do almost anything from anywhere at any time. Everything is at my fingertips, and likewise, I’m completely accessible, and not to mention, transparent thanks to this social media revolution. Need to get ahold of me? Then text me. Facebook me. Email me. And if you must, call me. I think that’s what people used to do with phones… maybe?

Maybe you’ve played a part in this scene – you’re sitting in a room with a group of your friends or family, and it’s silent. Everyone is playing on their phones. It’s funny how everyone longs for social interaction, yet we settle for something so subpar.

Even my two-year-old Hannah embraces all that technology offers. She can watch Dora at anytime from anywhere thanks to Netflix instant streaming on our Apple TV, on my laptop and on my iPhone. I think somehow this is reinforcing that she can have whatever she wants with a simple command. Is that OK?

With all this great technology, my phone and computer ding and ring and buzz to no end. I’m by no means the most popular kid ever, just well-connected. And it’s really getting to the point that I’m oblivious to its sounds. The sounds are so familiar to me, seemingly second-nature, that I can barely hear its alerts.

I love technology, but it’s taking over my life. So for a little experiment, I’m seriously considering taking one day a week and shutting off everything completely. *gasp* Primitive though it may seem, I’m just curious what people did without so much technology. I imagine folks talked a little more. Perhaps they were more active? Maybe children were more patient? Who knows? It’s worth it to me to find out. So on Sundays, I’m going to be a little less connected, friends. It’ll be a fast of sorts.

Now don’t get me wrong. I love being able to connect with my family and friends and know what’s happening all over the world so instantly, which is why this little experiment will be limited to once a week. So I hope you all have a great day tomorrow, and I hope to hear all about it… on Monday.

This Little Piggie

Hannah comes home from school everyday talking about her friend, Lyla, and her pigtails. So now that she has hair, all of which seems to have grown in the last 6 weeks, we gave it a shot. They didn't last long, but she was beyond excited.
