Meal Monday - Week 2

I'm excited to try the chicken and wild rice casserole. My coworker, MARLO, gave it to me a while back and I have yet to try it! I have no doubt it will be off the chain.

Meal Monday - Week 1

One of These Doesn't Belong

I don’t know about you, but I believe a home should be lived in. My home is clean and decorated as nicely as our shoe string budget will allow us. And though we’re constantly on the go, we do the best we can to pick up after ourselves. But our home is not on display. It is definitely lived in!

And when we cook, our dinners don’t include three courses, nor are they gourmet. They’re just quick, thrifty and pretty tasty, too, so long as Chris is cooking!

If you or someone you know is able to maintain the Pottery Barn home, cook like Rachel Ray all the while living in your home, more power to ya! But that will never happen for the Freemans. It’s good enough for us just to have our meals planned out for the whole week, and it’s even better if we get the groceries in advance! It’s just one less thing we have to deal with, and it lets us actually enjoy our evenings together.

So as a means of accountability to me, and maybe encouragement to others, I’m going to start posting the meals I’ve planned out for the week. We'll call these posts "Meal Mondays". If you want the recipes, let me know! And if you do the same thing, I want to know what you're cooking for the week!

Something's Come Between Us

You can pick your friends. You can pick your nose. But you can't pick your friend's nose... especially Hannah's. She's got the job handled!

We went downtown to take family pictures last month and I finally have pictures! Thank you David Sutton and Devin Brown for the pictures, and thanks to Aaron Handley for making the baby smile!

More pictures to come in another post.

Cookie Monster

Chris let Hannah try some of his chocolate chip cookie last night, and naturally, she loved it! Look at that face! How could anyone resist?

Hannah's Walking

For the first time that I can remember, my intuition as a mom was spot on! When Hannah turned 10 months, I told Chris that I knew she would start walking by the end of the month. And she certainly did! Saturday, February 28 at about 7 o'clock, Hannah took her first steps (that I'm aware of). I couldn't be more proud!

Listen Up, Thief!

I hate theft. My brand new iPhone 3GS was stolen last month along with pictures and other important personal items. Yeah, I know. Totally not cool.

Let me just say that if you're reading this and you stole my phone, it makes me wonder if you needed it for the money to feed your poor, hungry family because this down economy has left you without a job or something unfortunate like that. I really hope it helped. But if you didn't need it for the money and you're enjoying my iPhone all the while singing, "Finders keepers, losers weepers..." I still hope the best for you. I wasn't quite thinking that at first. In fact, I hoped every time you looked at the phone you would be struck with horrible guilt and maybe a disgusting bout of bowel issues.

But no more. It's taken me a month to forgive you, but here I am. I'm choosing to move on with my life because being mad about a phone isn't worth it. And though you may not be aware of it, I think perhaps you could use some forgiveness in your life just as I have. But let me also say that as a daughter of the King, it is my joy to forgive:

Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony. Colossians 3: 12-14
